Clipped from a for sale ad on another guitar forum in Canada.

Yes yes....the legendary Flying V of that WHAM man from Texas !!!!

1994 Lonnie Mack V ......#39 of 188 made.
Killer 50's spec V but, with a beautiful chevron mahogany body in that classic see-through vintage Gibson cherry. Bigsby Tremelo, and enough tone to fill anyone's requirements.

All original in excellent condition (just the lightest of playing wear). All case candy in original Hard shell case.

I have changed two things on the the guitar (both easily reversable....if you want)
There are Sheptone humbuckers currently installed (and a great tonal improvement over the 57's....IMHO)
The original 57' cassic pickups are in the case and included in the sale.
I also swapped out the Lonnie signature truss rod cover for a plain Historic one. the original is in a plastic bag in the case pocket.
There you go.

I had my tech set up the guitar and the Bigsby works VERY well. No tuning issues at all.

Just a great guitar for all sorts of musical styles

Gibson's about the only V I don't hate right off the hop
well, that is to say I give them more of a chance than, say, Jackson.
in fact, I'll go so far as to say I could own one some day
but the Bigsby on this kills it for me.

I'm pretty sure I met Lonnie Mack some years ago...but I'll be hooped if I can rememeber where, why or how.

I don't like Bigsbys and am not a fan of V's but strangely I'd want to give this a go.

Bigsby? Yes
Flying v? Sure

Flying V with bigsby mounted like your 7th grade shop teacher did it? Pass

I think the wacky Bigsby is part of why I dig this. It's almost like a Steampunkt addition to the V. If Steampunkt was about the 50's I guess :embarrassed:

I like Lonnie Mack's music but have always found that his sound was very thin. That bigsby with no meat under it was a major contributor.

Uh uh! I thought it was dumb on Lonnie's guitar back in the 80s, and I still think it looks dumb. Besides, as was mentioned, having that Bigsby tailpiece hang off in space on a piece of angle iron, sure doesn't help to acoustically couple it to the guitar. As far as I know, Lonnie's still playing his.

now...you give a Gibson V this treatment, and I'll walk over ALL of your corpses for it.
