to this day, i still can't understand why they couldn't get the guitar right. i've never seen a pic of buddy with a tele.

Yeah...only guitar geeks notice that kind of stuff though. He may well have played a tele in the early days, but I doubt it had a rosewood fretboard. I don't think Fender had those back then.

mid to late 1958 was the first year for Strats. i think teles were later than that. but still, he was iconic with the strat. his whole sound was that guitar. how hard would it have been for the director to put a strat in gary's hands?
