I bought this from Smurfco a few weeks ago. Thanks again!
Here's the deal with my amp and stuff: I really like the clean sound from it. I'm less crazy about how it sounds when it starts to clip.
So I'm stuck with keeping the gain so low that I don't get the most out of it, never hitting the guitar hard, or using a compressor.
I like how a compressor sounds on some pickups but not P90s and Filtertrons. They need to breathe and bark.
Enter the Em Drive. By setting it to clip before the amp does, I get a natural-sounding breakup that also limits the signal hitting the amp. When it's not clipping, I don't hear it. Perfect.
Here it is with a Godin Fifth Avenue Kingpin and a neck P90. You can hear the Em Drive start to do its thing at 1:35 and from there to the end.
