First jam in a while!

I moved to LA a couple months ago. I decided it was time again to pursue my dream of starting/getting into a band and rockin' the f out!! First link I click on is a duo looking for a bassist. Their soundcloud blew me away! Just exactly my style man. Some of you will remember I'm a big garage rock junkie...White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys, Wolfmother's first album...all that kind of stuff. And they jam out only 20 minutes away! Guy says they have four bass guitars, I'm pumped to see what else they got there!! I don't have a ton of experience on bass, but thanks to Mr. Wein's teaching on the importance of knowing your fretboard, and I can get by pretty well!

I'm meeting up with 'em tonight for the first time. First time I've been excited about music in a while! :rawk:

That sounds killer. Their style would be right up my alley as well. Have fun! Report back!

Maybe they're still jamming? Or it went so well they decided to start touring?

WHATS UP GUYS

Sorry for the late report haha. Jam went really well!! We mostly did their originals but did some other songs too. I realized I am a lot better player than I give myself credit for. I am able to hear a riff once and play it almost immediately. I can improv some cool fillers and all that. I hope I didn't come off as trying to usurp our lead guy by jumping on singing/electric on some of the covers. I just was having a good time and didn't want to hold back, ya know?

They emphasized that they want to be show-ready very soon as their are some gigs lined up and they say the time is now. It's just the drummer and the lead guy and they have been jamming since they were kids. They have 15 originals I think we worked on 4-5. It's great songs but nothing super complex so I think we can get it tight pretty quick. Hoping they pick me up because I guess they've met/are going to meet with another bassist or two. If they decide to go a different way, I can say I have found a newfound confidence in myself that I could take anywhere.

Very cool Jake!!!

Take every audition or jam as a learning experience. Whether the outcome positive or not so great, one learns who they really are. They also learn what was successful and what needs work. As for being part of the project, if it was meant to be - it was meant to happen. If not, just yell out - NEXT!!!!
