Hot or Not? Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

I'm not a fan of fanboy signature models, but at least this one doesn't cost a fortune like many.
Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar MSRP $1,849.99 with hard case
http://www.fender.com/products/kurtcobain

Fender introduces one of its most distinctive signature models ever, the Kurt Cobain Jaguar®-meticulously modeled on the battered and highly unusual 1965 Jaguar that Cobain wielded during the heady early-’90s era when Nirvana ruled rock and led a musically stunning and culturally subversive movement.

Fender craftsmen have reproduced Cobain’s battle-hardened left-handed Jaguar down to the last unusual detail, including its worn finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls (which were already in place when Kurt acquired the guitar in summer 1991).
Unique features include an alder body with Road Worn aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape with 1950s-style “spaghetti” logo, DiMarzio® humbucking DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and DP100 Super Distortion bridge pickup, triple knurled “chrome-dome” knob configuration (volume-volume-tone), three-position toggle switch, black chrome Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and Gotoh sealed tuners. Available in right- and left-handed versions.

Accessories include a black textured vinyl hard-shell case and an exclusive Fender Kurt Cobain book with photos and commentary by Charles Peterson and an insightful interview with Nirvana guitar tech Earnie Bailey.

...I love it...I love the binding on the neck too...I would just mod the switches for a 3 way, a phase switch, and each pup have a coil tap switch, and a volume...

I think it is just as expensive as any of Fender's other sig models. I don't really care for Jaguars or Mustangs either. This guitar does nothing for me.

I prefer the original Jag-Stang (I think it was) that was designed for him. This one's cool too, but not at that price.

I liked Nirvana at the time, I never bought into the "this guy is my generation's John Lennon" BS. I do think their mark on music is undeniable, but his guitar work is meh at best IMO. Now when I hear them on the radio I look for something else. I'd much rather listen to Alice in Chains and Jerry Cantrell is a much more inspiring player to me.

I like the guitar itself but never at that price for a guit. And definitely when a portion is going to line Courtney Love's pockets.

$1800 seems like a lot of money to me for a repro of what was essentially a cheap beater guitar.

It seems to me that a lot of these sig models are based on guitars that weren't particularly expensive when their namesakes started using them. The Setzer sig comes to mind and of course the VH frakenstrat.

There was a time when a 6120 was cheap? I didn't know that.

The story is that Bryan Setzer got his first 6120 for $100. That must have been mid to late 70's I recon.
There was a window in time where Gretsches were out of style and used ones could be picked up for a song.

As a Jag, there are a lot of things I'd like to see differently. As a signature instrument, FUCKING HOT.
