I've had squirrels the past couple of weeks that drag corn husks from the corn field behind my house all the way up to my side door stoop, before eating them.

So now I have kernels of corn all over my stoop. Not sure why they are dragging them all the way across my yard to eat them at my door? Past some pine trees and a maple tree.

I think their squirrel nests are in maple trees in the little strip of land between my driveway and my neighbors driveway, which my stoop faces.

So maybe close enough to their home, before enjoying the corn. Seems like it would be easier for them to eat it out in the field, though. Instead of dragging it 100m

It’s probably warmer by your home.

I can attest, with my multi-weekday hour commute through the rural roads, we have NO shortage of deer. I have become very astute at identifying deer near the road in the darkness of both my morning and evening commutes.

Our next door neighbor used to lay nuts along the fence to feed the squirrels. It made for a fun game for our dog to chase them off the fence and into the trees.
