I'm a bit delinquent in posting this. The concert was on 5/31 at The Anthem in Washington DC on the wharf. Nice venue.
First up was a young singer/songwriter out of Nashville (aren't they all?). He was actually pretty good, Landon Parker.
Next up was The Mavericks, who I was really looking forward to seeing. They didn't disappoint and put on a really fun 1-hour set. I'd like to catch them in a smaller venue as the headliner, if possible. Great musicians all of them. Where else can you get accordion solos?
Dwight didn't disappoint either and played for a full 2+ hours. Last time I saw Dwight was our our local county fair and his set was only about 45 minutes, which was pretty lame. He made up for it this night and seemed to be having a genuinely good time playing. His "utility outfielder" on the back right was an amazing musician and played keys, accordion, fiddle and pedal steel...often switching between them within the same song. Eugene Edwards was playing leads on this tour, and also did when I saw them at the fair a few years ago.
A more professional review can be found here, along with much better photos than mine.
Edit: Paging @Motorik, I believe you wanted an update when this happened.
