I never have worn nor owned a pair of Doc Marten shoes, but I remember them being all the rage in the 80's

I own two pairs, both dating back to the "Made in England" era. I had a third pair, but they wore out after many many years.

I don't wear them often, mainly because I am usually wearing my Keens slip ons.

I used to wear them all the time. I still have a pair, not boots but shoes. They are my "dress shoes" but I can't wear them for very long. My feet and ankles start hurting.

I wore them all the time in the '90s.

This. I had a pair of 8 hole, black. If I wasn't wearing Chucks, I was wearing those Docs.
I have a pair of their shoes still, that serve as my black casual dress shoes, and occasionally get worn for gigs. They don't see a lot of use, but have lasted many years.

I wear Doc Martens every day. I stopped for a few years after production moved to China because the Chinese boots were awful. But the Vietnamese made boots I bought four years ago are holding up better than the old British ones did.

Doc Martens were for posers.

Real punks wore combat boots, which you could buy at the Army/Navy surplus store for $15.

I don't care about looking punk, but I know that Doc Martens are much more comfortable than combat boots. My feet have logged time in both.

My son wore Docs a lot. Since I was usually paying, I'd rather spend more money less often for well made shoes than to spend less money more often for badly made shoes.
