If by your 'special area' you mean the part of your office cubicle given over to some small personal items such as a photograph of your spouse and children, or a portrait of Roy Orbison, then I think keeping that area spick-and-span and uncontaminated by feces is necessary hygiene and what Roy would have wanted.
