Did Winger really deserve all the scorn?

They had a few good/interesting songs on their albums, with the rest being fluff/filler. With the talent in that band they should've done so much more.

No, but Gere did.

Yep - this exactly.

The whole band were killer players. Heck - Kip is writing classical pieces now. Beach is a monster player. They just never really put out a consistent batch of great songs. Usually they had three or four good songs per album. Rainbow In The Rose is my fave from them.

So did they deserve the scorn, no more so than most every other hair metal band at the time.

They were horribly over produced, but so we're most bands of the time. There were so many other bands that were much more deserving of the blowback. Mike Judge just happened to put the nail in their coffin.

Reb is still the guitarist that amazes me the most from the commercial hair bands. His solo on "Seventeen" is flat out amazing for radio fare.

Richard Gere was quoted as saying that she had bad breath while filming An Officer and a Gentleman.
