Dig it! Danish Pete destroys his gold top...

That turned out pretty cool! I'm not sure the coffee grounds and whatnot did much of anything, but still.
 
It was starting to crack anyways- It looks pretty cool actually.

My bandmate has an early 1970's gold top that he has had since it was new. About a zillion years ago it was left outside or something, & the finish cracked. He'd probably get a kick out of the fact that people are doing it on purpose now. It's actually a great guitar- something about the natural wear & tear adds to it.
 
Doesn't convince me. Old Goldtops, even '70s models, used bronze flake and tarnished green where the clearcoat wears away.

'80s and '90s and later LP Classics and Standards used different paint that doesn't green.
 
I understand the desire but I just want my stuff to look as new and spotless as possible as long as possible. To each his own!
