Cool article in Premier Guitar about W. Jeffrey Jones guitars....

I've mentioned his guitars before because I'm a BIG proponent of guitars made from unique woods where the combination of wood grain and hand carving makes each guitar a one-of-a-kind. There's so much more uniqueness or personality than a one-off color or a unique inlay.

Just ask anyone who paid huge money for a unique inlayed guitar only to have a limited-run done a few years later... or have a custom paint job done only to see a Korean knock off that looks almost identical.

Unless someone masters Plant-Cloning, you're never going to see two WJJ guitars that look exactly the same.

That's just one example and it was done as a commissioned piece.

Heres a much more elaborately carved guitar that's not sinister at all.

The carving is supposed to be like that. Yes, it's awful, but that's besides the point. He wanted to have a stupid carving. But he made the carving more stupid with the shitty color.

and you want the color to be what, sparkle pink?

that he wanted the carving like that in the first place tells me that i will not be purchasing any of his work.

I've just never liked dark brown on guitars. I guess with the carving there, any color would seem horrendous...If you paints piece of shit blue, it's still a piece of shit. :embarrassed:

1. jelloman will agree with you.

2. nobody can tell how it sounds or plays on the internets. we only have the look to go by.
