The Worldwide Auctioneers Auburn Auction set for Labor Day weekend in Auburn, Ind., is overflowing with spectacular machinery. We'd commit acts of despicable desperation to own a bunch of 'em. It's hard to even know where to start.

But this baby absolutely pegged our Cool-Meter! When was the last time you saw a really nice 1955 DeSoto station wagon — and two-tone to boot — up for bids? We can't even remember ever seeing one of these in the flesh, and certainly not one this nice. This would be an absolute home run at almost any Dairy Queen cruise night, or maybe a blue ribbon concours.

There were only 1,803 1955 Firedome station wagons built, and certainly not many are left. This one's loaded with automatic transmission, a driver’s side spotlight, fog lights, wire wheels, a dash-mounted clock and radio, and a roof rack. And she's got a Hemi!

(no "read more", this is all of it)

Beautiful.
There's a guy with a DeSoto sedan that frequents a local car show here. It runs so smooth you can put your hand on the fender and not feel the vibration from the engine.
I'm sure it rides smooth as glass on the freeway.
