Can I tell you guys how much I love my Gretsch Power Jet?

Duller than cardboard
I've owned this for almost a year now and man, what a great guitar. It's very light, particularly when compared to a Les Paul, and it can cover a lot of tonal territory. The Powertron pickups are definitely hotter than traditional TVJ classics, but in a good way. Moar ballz, but still cleans up nicely and does the Gretsch thing when called upon to do so.

Plus it just looks great.

I love the tailpiece on that. It's a killer guitar.
I still say the best playing new guitar I ever picked up was a MIJ Country Gent. That factory they use knows what they're doing. Good stuff.

I think this is a 2003 model but I haven't researched the serial number. Regardless, it's MIJ and the construction materials and attention to detail is excellent.

I generally prefer a thicker neck, but I've grown to love this. It's got the same fretboard radius as my LP but the slimmer neck on the Gretsch makes it feel flatter.

Nice guitar! I've always liked those.

BTW, your thread got me GASing again for a Double Jet (Triple Jet?) like Jack White used recently.

Howie - the court takes judicial notice of your objection to middle pickups. No need to chime in.

I like everything about that Power Jet.

I sold my Gretsch G5435t Pro Jet even though the blacktop pickups sounded pretty nice. With my Tele, SG, and Club King 290, I had the Gretsch's tonal range completely covered. I'd still go for something with Powertrons or Dynasonics, though.
