Call me a lover of gaudy things...

But I have always loved these Teye guitars. If I ever spend multiple thousands on a guitar, this one would probably be it.

Did it have some problems?

Hey, Alex! it wasn't the guitar for me. the new owner was really happy with it. there were things i liked about it - the "mood" knob was cool because i could get some strat-type tones from the humbuckers that i wouldn't have expected they could do; the etching work was pretty nice on the metal plates. On the constructive side: the guitar was woefully neck-heavy (worse than any SG I've ever played), the neck carve felt exceedingly wide (even though the spec was 1-11/16; i didn't measure to verify) and my fretting hand just couldn't get comfortable with it, the overall fit and finish of the guitar itself (all etching and metal-work aside) was disappointing. there were numerous areas where the finish was poorly applied; particularly in the neck pocket area where it looked like the neck had been poorly re-set (it hadn't been). Ironically, the guitar i owned was a prior NAMM piece that you'd think would have been especially cared for since it's going to such a high profile event. oh well...

i will say, Teye the individual was a pleasant and helpful person to interact with. He is passionate bout what he's doing and has a number of strong talents that have generated quite a following in places like TGP and other sites. i wish him continued success and hope that he continues to expand and improve his line and the quality of each piece that leaves his shop. he's living a dream of sorts and i respect him for that.

I really like the look of some of his guitars. I love Zemaitis Metal Front guitars, so it definitely stems from that. I'd certainly like to try out a Teye or two some time.
