I had a Rockman when I was younger... would clip it to my guitar strap and walk around with headphones for practicing. Pretty cool sound, but was an early experience with that "overly compressed modeler sound" that sounded great recorded or practicing, but wouldn't amplify very well. I wonder if the pedal takes that into account or rides that balance between a usable Boston sound vs the Studio Rockman sound.

I still have my old Rockman. No idea if it still works, as I no longer remember where or what power supply goes to it (Rockmans had an odd voltage power supply).

I suppose I could buy eight AA batteries and see if it fires up?

Probably worth some money on Reverb/eBay if it works.

hmmm, might have a look at that, even tho that's really not the sound i'm using now.
back in the late 80's, i had the full 2 rack space set and stereo power amp and 2~2x12 cabs.
it really DID sound like Tom.

I love that sound but really, wouldn't you feel like a dork playing in front of people with that sound?
It’s practically mandatory gear if you play guitar in a Def Leppard or Boston cover band. It also works for 80’s themed night at the pub. Otherwise, it’s 80’s cheese. :embarrassed:
