Actually, there are quite a few albums streaming free in this article about Pop Matters' favorite 60 albums of the year. I just happen to like this particular collection of songs. I have to admit that I had never even heard of Bon Iver until about a week ago, when I heard the song "Skinny Love" on some best singles of the year list or other. It's not a tour de force of musicianship or anything, especially in terms of vocals or guitar playing. To the contrary, the whole record is a bit loose and casual. The guitar tracks are strummy, and sound like they were not recorded with the best kept instrument. That said, I really dig the vocal harmonies, some of the melodies, and the arrangements. This is a great mood record, and I may just have to buy a copy next time I make it out of this goddamn office... which will probably be sometime Saturday.
If you don't like it, please remember that this was: (a) free, and (b) just an opinion.
