Bigsby Install?

I'm trying to decide between a Gretsch Pro Jet with or without bigsby. How hard is it to install a bigsby? Other than drilling a couple holes, it does not look that hard. Unless I'm missing something?

i say get it with the bigsby installed from the factory. if you end up not using it, you can either remove the bar, or put a block in place of the spring so that it doesn't move. much cheaper mod than adding a bigsby later.

I agree. However, installing a Bigsby isn't difficult if you use a Vibramate.

It took me about 10 minutes to install one on my SG. Then it took me about 30 minutes to restring it.

Monica,

How much was the Vibramate?

I can get the Bigsby they use (B50) for around $80. I expect the pain is in the re-tuning when all strings are off(?)

That's about right, Woody. The Vibramate adds about $50 to the cost. I bought mine from this place. Fast shipping.

I'm not sure that the Vibramate will work with a B50. It works well with my B5.

Vibramate V5 is designed for the Bigsby "Original" B5 Vibrato ONLY and will not work with other variations such as the "Licensed" B50 Model or the Import B500 Model. Make sure you have the correct Bigsby Vibrato for proper installation of the Vibramate Kit
