Belcat pickups?

Horny bag of electric meat
I'm looking at a 14k alnico humbucker on Bezdez for $20 shipped. I found a video on YouTube that sounded pretty good. I'm guessing that these are similar to generic Artecs? It would be the sole pickup in a FA Sheena and would be set up with series/parallel.

The other option that I'm considering is a Carvin M22T. But I really don't want to spend $45 on a pickup for a guitar that cost $50 new. But otoh, it really is a great guitar.

Does anyone know anything about these?

I'm also open to other (used) ideas. So if you have something, send me a PM.

I've never heard of them....I have a used Duncan Trembucker Custom sitting around if you're interested.

Sorry that's the first I've herd of them. 20 bucks shipped is hard to beat. If you try them let me know, I'm always looking for a bargain.

If you want to spend a little more, I had real good luck with these, http://www.wilburncustomshop.com/Parts/humbuckers.html , and they go along with the "heritage" of the guitar. :cheese:

You could also try Ebay for Seymour Duncan, and the other more expensive pickups. Sometimes on a Monday morning, you will find somebody listed to late, so they missed ending on the weekend, then nobody bids on them, and you can scoop them up cheap.

Bob, I'm sure the Kent Armstrongs at Wilburn are nice. But for that price I'll buy a Carvin M22T. It's $34.99 + 9.50 shipping. It's not a bad deal, I'm just unemployed and cheap.

I ended up trading a DanO Transparent Overdrive for a DiMarzio Air Norton and D Sonic. I wasn't using the overdrive. I couldn't adapt to the knobs on the front instead of the top. I'll probably resell the D Sonic. I'm not a big fan of high output pickups. But the Air Norton sounds perfect for my purposes.

thats a screaming deal. that pedal isn't worth all that much (I just sold mine :embarrassed:)

The D-Sonic is pretty popular with the 7-string set. F.Y.I. - the Air Norton can sound a little bright for a humbucker, as favor to the non-gigging brother of the bass player in one of my bands, I gave his LP Studio loaded with Air Nortons a workout onstage. It was pretty good sounding, but definitely brighter than the Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion, that was my main axe at the time.

Where'd you pull the deal off - Music Go Round? It sounds like that kind of deal.

Actually it was a trade with someone on HC. And today the guy that usually does my rewinds and custom winding got back to me. He was on vacation for the last 2 weeks. He'll rewind a A5 Yamaha HB that I have in my parts drawer to my specs for a very good price. I know and trust his work. So the DiMarzios will probably end up on ebay.

That's probably a better choice IMO. You don't seem like quite the metalhead I am Monica, which rules out the D-Sonic, and you might find the Air Norton to be a bit bright sounding in the Sheena.

I agree. I currently have one of the custom wounds in the Sheena and it sounds great. But I don't want to break up the set of them. The stray alnico humbucker that someone gave me is a great option. I just wanted to be able to split the coils or run it with series/parallel. I'll be able to do that after the rewind. I'm definitely not a metalhead. More often then not I play clean and don't use a pick.
