Any Marshall JMP MKII owners here?

burnt toast
One from 1975 popped up on my local Kijiji for what seems like a great price. Looks like the inside was painted white, unless they came like that at some point. Sideways mounted transformer and I am awaiting pics of the guts. Seller says he got it off of a buddy who stored it in his garage which is scaring me a little. Hopefully there isn't any moisture damage.
For the price he is asking I am thinking it might be a good way to spend my tax return even if it needs a bit of work.

Any info or insight on these would be great.

Thanks!

I like the later ones, like '78 or so with the master volume. You'll have to crank the shit out of it to get anywhere with the earlier non master versions.

I used to have a '76 until it got stolen. It was a fantastic amp. It loved my Boss Blues Driver. I think I got it for about $600, but the cabinet was in pretty rough shape and had a big hole sawed into the side for a fan. It sounded heavenly, though.

Sweet! Thanks!
I will see how I am feeling about this purchase once my cheque comes in. So many awesome deals have been showing up lately, I wish I could buy them all.

Here's my '71 JMP:

A magnificent amp and a real piece of history. When I'm using it at home, I play into it through a Zvex Box Of Rock for good sounds at reasonable volume. When I'm with the band, I can crank it up and it sounds glorious... :rawk:

They're not the most versatile amp in the world, but if you want that particular 70's Marshall sound, they're the only thing to have :thu:

It's worth $1850 in perfect, as new condition and probably half that with mods in working condition.

Cool! Thanks!
I am just awaiting some details pics of the guts from the seller and hopefully I will have a NAD coming soon
The exterior condition, I would give it probably a 7/10. One small tear in the front and it is missing bits of the piping along the top. Far better off then the last vintage amp I acquired, which looked like it had been to hell and back.

Ya I am not big on versatility. I like to set it and go! The youtube vids I have been checking out have all sounded fantastic.
Yours is in fantastic shape!
