Since this was mentioned earlier in the week I figured I'd feature it here...

This Chubster is available for a lean price.
The Rivera Chubster is a combo tube amp with 40W of EL34 power, 5 12AX7 preamp tubes, and a Celestion G12L-55 rear-mounted speaker housed in an extra deep open-back enclosure. The Chubster amp delivers rich and fat low end, and spongy sweet mids and highs for an overall pleasing tone.

Like most Rivera amplifiers, this 1x12 version has features that include 2 fully independent preamp channels, each with its own distinct voicing (British and American), and footswitchable boosts delivering 4 easy-to-dial-up sounds, preamp/power amp patch loop, and line out. This Rivera amp sounds much bigger than its size and is affordably priced.
Rivera Chubster 40 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Features:

  • Cabinet Material: American Maple Solid Core Plywood
  • Cabinet covering: Ruby Red Tolex Vinyl
  • Grille Cloth Color: Vintage Blonde
  • Cabinet Hardware: Chrome plated metal corners, Vintage style Leather Handle
  • Dimensions: 20.5" x 12" x 17"
  • Weight: 45 lbs.

I would like to plug into one of those. Once upon a time I owned a Rivera Clubster 40, which is a more affordable version of the Chubster (cheaper speaker, cheaper wood in the cabinet). I really liked it but ultimately wanted a more Fender sounding clean at the time. I have been impressed with every Rivera I have played through. But $1700.00 is not 'affordably priced'.....

hmmmm...sounds good but not necessarily anything that you couldn't find with a nice amp and a couple of pedals. Kind of hard to really tell from these vids though.

as i said in that thread, if you're an amp guy looking for Fender clean and Marshall distortion in one package, this is as close as it comes. add in the monster foot controller, and you've basically got it covered.
