Boutique Custom Shop 'Benz' Smokehead Guitar

Custom shop hand crafted 'Benz' guitar, made for the NAMM show in Anaheim in January 2018
If you're looking for something unique, this is it!

The core of the instrument is an original 1970's Mercedes Benz hubcap, with a body handmade in banjo style from steamed and shaped oak, with binding. The neck is maple with a Pau Ferro fretboard and a Tone Ninja nut, and has a finish matched headstock.
Hardware consists of Hipshot 6GL0C locking tuners with SK-1 knurled buttons, a Hipshot Tone-a-matic locking bridge, Schaller straploks, Hipshot control knobs and Pure Tone jack. Tailpiece and other hardware is custom made.
The guitar is set up for slide work, and has a punchy slide tone.
Note that the hubcap is an original, and it has been on a car. The finish has some crazing and the chrome has some grazing commensurately. Everything else is new.
Note: This instrument is not related to or endorsed by Mercedes-Benz in any way other than the use of original Mercedes-Benz components in its construction.
Note also: The car depicted in some photos in this listing is not included :)

Agree somewhat about using the Mercedes. Visually it looks great but the brand reference doesnt fit.
Aside from that......
I like it.
But I dig banjos and resonators so I guess I'm prejudiced.

I thought Mercedes drivers were obnoxious, but this is off the charts. I like the idea and execution otherwise.

Reminds me of a kid I went to high school with who cut a huge hood ornament off of a Benz and wore it on a chain around his neck.
