Carvin SGB-1 Replica

The '50s vintage Carvin solid body guitars look and sound awesome. The neck on the originalsl is just too giant for me. Bigger than any Les Paul. So I decided to have a replica made of the 1956 version with a 59 Les Paul profile neck. It was a much more involved process than I realized when I got into it. If you want more details you can write to me. I am selling the prototype which is made of beautiful figured maple with a very flamey neck. The pickup is the replica that Curtis Novak makes. If you wanted to make this into a two pickup model it would be very simple and you can get another pick up from Novak. I find the one pickup enough with clear highs and great definition in the lows. It has a tone that some have described as piano- like. There are a couple of more in production as once the templates were made it didn't make sense to only make one.

Yup, that is a Carvin all right.

In a way you have to respect them for coming up with blah designs so dependably over a period of decades. At least they stayed true to their, um, aesthetic.

I looks like a HS shop project gone wrong. That body is terrible. Not just the shape, it is not joined well and not finished well.
