Fender experimented with a Rosewood Telecaster design in the late 1960s. A very few of the exceptionally heavy guitars were produced, most famously the one played by George Harrison at the Beatles’ famed “rooftop concert” of Jan. 30, 1969, in London.
Fender’s Lite Rosewood Telecaster evokes that elusive instrument and greatly lightens the weight by sandwiching a dark-stained spruce body core between a rosewood top and back.

On its 1951 introduction, the Telecaster was a revolutionary instrument that would usher in whole new eras of musical innovation and excitement. Sixty years later, in 2011, it is an archetypal electric guitar with a long and storied history. The rich history of Fender
guitars begins with the Telecaster, and Fender is celebrating its 60th anniversary all year with 12 very special “Tele-bration” models that stay inside the Telecaster’s famously elegant lines while offering the finest and most unusual takes on the instrument’s past, present and future.

maple neck fail. threaded saddle fail. Those saddles could be the worst ever.

I still think it looks hot, while at the same time agreeing that it would have been even better if the neck had at least been stained to match the color of the body.

I'd love a rosewood Tele!
This one just needs different saddles. That would help with the D, B and e string alignment problem, although moving them over one thread would fix that immediately.

I almost bought an MIJ rosewood Telecaster back in 1986. It was a killer guitar! I was all set to sign on the dotted line to make payments on the guitar, when I got cold feet. I got worried about being able to make payments, and make ends meet, as a semi-broke college student so I passed. :( I was interested in Telebration Rosewoods, but by the time I found out about them, they were all gone. Oh well!

On second thought I like that a lot.

I like it. Really -- has to have a RW neck? What a buncha'

RW fingerboard is fine. Finger board has about 10x the effect on tone as the rest of the neck....
