100 greatest heavy Metal songs of all time according to Rolling Stone

Don't even have to look....

No. I'm sure not a single person on this, or any Guitar forum, will agree with this list. :helper:

they certainly do have their genres intermixed.
and althought i'm not a big ozzie fan, i agree that War Pigs belongs in the top 10.
(especially Gov't Mule's version)

I skimmed it yesterday. It’s a mix of fan service and choices intended to start arguments.

It only lets me see 100 thru 51 on my phone. Do I need to get a subscription to RS to see the other half?

I might know 20 of those songs... which is probably 15 more than I thought I would know before I read that list.

Anyhow, I'll never understand what is or isn't heavy metal.

Invent your own schtick instead of trying to be Flamencology

It’s a genre more defined by performance, arrangement choices, sensibility, and recording choices. I’m not sure how many great metal standards there are beyond the collected works of Ozzy-era Sabbath. I mean fucking “Break Stuff” is maybe the most memorable metal song of the last 25 years.

IDK which is more predictable: a junky rolling stone top X list or MWGL responses to anything with 'metal' in the title. Either way, both amusing.

@wok ....give Peen his dues bro he IS a master troller because I know that Peen knows that I know he knows he's full of it

I mean herer's proof Sabbath wasn't the only one making standards

I’ll concede that Metallica’s 2nd and 3rd albums were mostly alright.

Metal’s best feature was its roots in UK folk music. Then idiots severed that relationship as if it was a flaw. Without it, it’s unintentionally cartoonish and pretentious.
