I never knew Bert was an option

So, I'm listening to Chicago ESPN and Albert Breer is going to be on and they always play a clip of Ernie saying, Hi Bert, hey Bert, etc.. Which obviously made me think of Burt Reynolds but, he has a U instead of an E in his name. I thought maybe since he's an actor, Burt is just his stage name and he just changed it to a U to be cute. I Google Burt Reynolds and find out Burt is short for Burton. Never knew that. Also found out Bert is short for a bunch of names.

Unless I'm signing something, I've been Bob forever so, it's not like I'm going to change now but, it would of been nice to know it was an option.
