In Houston for the Art Car Parade

We went to the pre-parade sneak peak last night. Lots of cool cars and interesting artists. Will post pics later.

Nice thing about being retired - we just picked "Wild Travels" on Amazon at random one night and the Art Car Parade was featured on that show. We decided to hit this years. Downtown Houston is, um, interesting.

April & May is a good time of year to be in Houston. Heat and humidity set in pretty firmly after that. Enjoy!

Cool, enjoy!

If you want to venture into the downtown tunnels for lunch, Top Taste has good banh mi and pho.

Back home. We had a great time.

Instead of trying to upload a bunch of pictures, I'll just share a link to my OneDrive with some medium resolution highlights. If you want a full photo dump, let me know.

But to pique your interest, here's the wife's and my favorite.

Nice photos.
Since it's only 25 minutes away, I keep saying I'll watch it someday. I guess my crowd phobia is getting worse.

This is a neighbor's. This is his new Shuttle, which is much better detailed than the previous one.

Not to be toooooo picky... but if he's trying to pull off the Enterprise (the first shuttle that was tested by launching from the back of a 747) it had a white aerodynamic cone covering the engine vents (they were a bit concerned about the vertical tail of the 747 coming in contact with the engines).

Yes... I was such a Shuttle nerd as a little kid. :helper:

@GomezAddams, I'm guessing you've left Houston, right? If not, I used to enjoy a visit to Rockin Robin guitars

Been so long since I've been in Houston, I'm assuming it's still there. As I recall, it was near the Montrose area.

It's still there and rockin'. Yeah, kind of between Upper Kirby and Montrose.

Left Monday morning. Google said TSA delays at IAH were bad and I should arrive at least 2 hours before boarding. It took maybe 10 minutes to get through TSA and five minutes of that was because the wife's carryon bag got flagged for inspection.
