also, to answer the troll plainly, i can't afford a Sadowsky. which is EXACTLY why i want the Godin. so how about this. you pay for me to buy a Sadowsky and i'll walk over to Queensbridge and buy one in person.

Fair point...

I've never played a Godin but everyone I have heard talk about them (except the troll) had great things to say.

Godin has definitely upped their game in the past few years. i hadn't been much of a fan before the Icon series debuted, though their acoustics have always been incredible values. i'd love a Sadowsky, especially since the company is based here in Queens. but i can neither afford or justify one.

Godin is a well above average guitar at an average price.
Nice guitars. Great values.
Will KILL you on resale if you buy one new. Look for bargains; they abound.
I bought mine brand new well below map.

I wonder if he bashes every company that makes a strat copy?

I missed the actual post, but he sure is deluded about design origins. If anything the Sadowsky body is a rip on the Ibanez GB-10. They made a GB-20 that had just a neck pickup with a slightly tweaked bigger body, but is was actually the GB-30 that I was thinking of in my previous post, being a 335-style variation on the theme (thinline semi-hollow). The Sadowsky added a figured woods and took away some tonal flexibility with the master V&T...the Godin just brings it back down to earth with a more subtle aesthetic.

But back to the GB-20 and later the GB-15 which both predate the Bruno Sadowsky (up to about two decades for the GB-20) which was the platform they modded to make their Semi-Hollow. The basic design isn't particularly original in general, but Ibanez would seem to have far more valid claim on it than Sadowsky ever would. I've always wanted a an original GB-10, but I can't justify that either (fiscally or as a player). Someone needs to lighten up in a HUGE way. The Godin might be just a good or better than the Sadowsky, especially in the right hands, but I'm guessing they are both wonderful guitars, but the Godin is clearly going to be a better value.

Here's some GBs to gawk at:

Which are all copies of various Gibson, Guild, Gretsch and Epiphone models dating to the 40s.

Almost every guitar design is a ripoff of another. A guitar is a guitar. Change it too much an its not a guitar any more.

Definitely, but some borrow more than others. I wonder if the banned-one knows that the Sadowsky semi- and full hollowbodies are outsourced/import builds to his specs. It's not entirely impossible that Godin is building the bodies, they used to for other manufacturers (I believe Peavey was among their clients). The compact single cut in a hollow or semi-hollow has few noteworthy predecessors to Ibanez and the GB models however. :thu:

I know Godin has made Fender necks in the past for OEM parts.

I prefer a gloss or satin black to trans, but still that's pretty hot!

Sent from my iPhone at a Tijuana donkey show.
