your favorite $500-600 all tube combo amp.

I tried the vaporizer with a gretsch. I don't know what I expected but it had all of the good things that come from el84s and 2-10s. I liked it.

Thats an obvious one to try that I forgot about.
Think its as loud as the VC?
The VC has never been not loud enough for any situation, even tho its just a 10".

The Vaporizer is interesting even tho I'm not crazy about the colors.
I saw one on the Gretsch forum that a guy stripped the tolex off, stained it a dark walnut, and changed the grill cloth to a brown tweed. Looked fantastic.

Don't know. They are both 2 EL84s, and supposedly, SOME companies claim more wattage than it's possible to get from 2 EL84s. My guess would be close. Not just going from a 10" to 12" also, how efficient a speaker matters too. I put an Eminence Wizard in my Crate V16, and the difference was huge.

I got this amp in '95 for $300. Between this,a fender twin and a fender concert(tubes) I had, the PV wins. 60w, 3 ch,12in. Speaker, it's a blues/rock machine.Peavey Triumph 60

Just so you know, I haven't tossed a suggestion your way since I tend to work very modularly, and combos don't work in that context. For instance, I have a few heads (100 watt Bugera 1960 Infinium, modded '69 Fender Bassman, JetCity PicoValve) and a couple cabinets (Peavey 412MS, JetCity 2x12). Depending on the situation I'll pull out a different setup. Like if I need to push a lot of air but won't have a lot of space, I'll take the Bugera and the 2x12.

I would probably suggest this as a workable solution as the Infinium series stuff has actually been really solid and is nice because you don't have to worry about bias settings anymore.

It's based on the Peavey 5150/6505, which is much more than just the Van Halen or metal sound. Ted Nugent was using (still might?) 5150s for a long time. You need to think of the EQ in terms of Fender, not Marshall, so they're a bit brighter and scooped, like a Twin, but can be made to be fat and singing, too.

The first two here are combos, the 50 watter being a bit more than your proposed budget. The last two are 20 watt heads. I'd have linked to the 2x12 cabinet but they seem to be out of stock and not listed. D'oh!

I have a VHT Special 6 Ultra I really like; you might look into their 12/20 model, which can be had for about $600.

If you're already using a few pedals with what you have, the AC15 really is a no brainer.
I've had both that one and a Blues Jr, and the Vox absolutely kills the Fender (and the Blues Jr doesn't have that lovely tremolo).

I am going to add a used Blackstar HT-60. I have been blown away by my tone through this amp. It is like having a four different JCM 800 heads with better eq and a stellar clean channel that does country twang through twin breakup.

I have gotten more complements on this amp at gigs and practice than any of my previous amps.

I had one of those right after they came out. Bought it off consignment at a local shop, so I was owner two. Sounded ok at low volumes but I found it farty and noisy at band levels with the gain up. Replaced it with a Classic 50 and never looked back once.

spend a little more and get a princeton reverb ri!
thats what Im saving up for...about $800

In the meantime I have this I paid $500 for + another $100 for a proper speaker (replacement of which I sold for $50)
