Which is.....? Do you guys have it memorized or do you just wing it? I'm far to OCD for that. I make sure that Every set has an opener and a closer, gets at least one if not two originals in, has a slow or mid tempo song for people to catch their breath... but every set it designed to keep people dancing straight through for the second half of each set.

We don't make set lists for each show. We have the songs grouped into three lists of 40-50 songs each and we'll pick loosely from that. This list is pretty old but has most of the music we play. There are probably 15-20 new songs not on here. I don't even know if we have a currently updated song list.

I have to add that I know in most club settings what songs go into the 1st set, and that we usually start the 2nd set with an"80's superset" of the hits. The third set sually starts with "You shook Me All Night Long", "American Girl" and "Hey Yaa" and then at about 12:50 tonight we will play "Want you back" by the Jackson 5 and the night will probably end with "Mr Brightsize". In between those two songs you'll probably have the 90's skate rock set with songs by Jimmy Eat World, Lit, The Ataris and Blink 182. And we do a 90's set in the first set too with songs by Goo Goo Dolls, Fastball, Train and maybe someone else. There is a natural flow to the night but it's not tightly regimented and there are always requests to field or left turns suggested by whatever mayhem is happening in the club.

How do you do Talks to Angels in standard tuning?

Cee Lo, Neon Trees, I want you to want me and billy Jean were ones I bumped for the Stevie wonder tunes. I kept getting vetoed on Stevie until we got a keyboard player. :)

Counting Blue Cars, Short Skirt Long Jacket, and Roller Coaster are all ones I've wanted to learn.

@gtrjunior our keyboard player has talked to me about adding some Rage and RHCP to our list. Yours really starts to rip in that second set!

@Mark Wein i like the grouping by decade. I do that while Dj ing but until recently we didn't have enough from each decade to worry about it.

This particular band has a guitar player that has to travel overseas for work pretty frequently. When that happens they will call me. Great bunch of guys. They are a ton of fun to hang out with. I'm just waiting for them to ask me to join full time!!!
The other guitar player in this band (the one that doesn't travel) asked me if I'd be interested in a country band project. I was hesitant at first but the more I think about it, I would be a great learning opportunity. I've always been basically a rock player so this would be fun to sort of shift gears a bit.

When i learned "She talks to Angels" I sort of re-arranged the guitar part into a workable one for standard tuning...it's not note perfect but nobody has ever noticed the minute differences.

I do. I don't retune for anything other than dropping the D for "The Middle".

We don't play the Cee Lo or Neon Trees much if ever anymore. The Cheap Trick and MJ songs are nightly staples. Your second group of tunes there are all second line tunes for us...if we need to fill out a particularly "non-dancing" evening or if we just feel like playing them. I'll see if I can find a more current list. I know we do "Save Me San francisco" by Train which goes over really well.

You should be beaten for including that insipid Kid Rock song.

Well, in the world of music for commerce "All Summer Long" is money in the bank. We do it in a medley with "Sweet Home Alabama". MONEY. IN. THE. BANK.
I hate Sweet Home Alabama, that's why we mash it up with werewolves. I even sing "werewolves of London all summer long"
