Where would you take people to get a taste of your town?

You, not the Food Network.

One pick and only one. If you can't pick one,

El Jarrito, the much better of 2 Mexican restaurants in town. It has reopened in a new location after the original site burned down.

Here in Germany I'm at a loss. Neither the village I live in or the next town over are known for shit.

Back home though it would have to be these hot dogs, for better or worse.

The cattle ranch five minutes down the road. People in Boulder tend to be full of shut.

We had a Coney Island in the city I grew up in....just like you're 2nd pic. They would have the dogs lined up their arm like that.
That place was open for over 100 years and then went out of business. At one point the city stepped in to try to help them to stay open but ....

There's a dive bar I like called Cigars and Stripes. They make great smoked chicken wings. The burgers are fantastic. It's just a little hole in the wall bar.

I can't think of a single locally owned establishment in Battle Creek that I would brag about. Are there places in Battle Creek that I like to eat at? Yes, but I'll be the first to admit they really aren't anything special. Probably the fanciest place is the expensive restaurant in the local casino, Firekeepers. There used to be a fancy restaurant on the top floor of the Stouffer's Hotel in downtown BC, but that place has been closed for almost 20 years now.

Kalamazoo 20 miles away though, now they have plenty of great places with absolutely delicious food. And I haven't even been to the pricey, ritzy joints in Kalamazoo, some of those I've been told are very good indeed.

The best breakfasts I've had in the area, and maybe anywhere, are an hour away in Lansing, MI at The Golden Harvest. A tiny little hole-in-the-wall hipster diner with amazing food.

where was this? Never knew them to be a franchise.

This one is Johnstown, PA.

Great choice. One of my favorite restaurants. I'm friends with a guy whose family owns it. There's one in New Haven, and used to be one in Middletown, just down the street from where I used to work. I was in there constantly. Falafel, spinach pie, mango juice. Mmmmm. Sadly they closed the one in Middletown, but they have a food truck now that cruises around the local campuses and shows up at local events.

We have very few good choices for food in my own quiet burgh. Luckily Middletown is 15 minutes away and is a foodie mecca. For my town (East Hampton), I'd have to go with K Lamay's. Steamed cheeseburgers are pretty localized to central CT, and they're delicious.

In my small town of West Brookfield, MA, there isn't a whole lot that is impressive. I guess I'd have to say Salem Cross Inn.

"The Salem Cross Inn is a restored 18th century farmhouse nestled on 600 acres of New England countryside. Though it is rich with history, the house, turned restaurant and tavern, offers seasonal menus with traditional American fare alongside what today's dining public is looking for. The Salem family is proud to say that everything is prepared fresh each day while incorporating heirloom vegetables and herbs grown in our own gardens."
