What kind of neck wood am I describing here?

I've been wondering if there is a neck wood that has the feel of indian rosewood, but has a lighter color and brighter tone like maple.

there's nothing like the feel of a full rosewood neck, but I just love the tone and look of a maple neck/fretboard more.

Is there a wood like this?

Canary wood is supposed to be very bright in necks like maple and it is an oily wood that doesn't require a finish. It is kind of orangish, but lighter in color than rosewood. It is an open grain wood of similar density and feel to rosewood.

I never played one of these, but I almost bought one a while ago from the Warmoth thrift shop so I read a bit about it.

I have been loving roasted maple. It doesn't feel exactly like rosewood, but it doesn't require a finish, so you get that raw feel. It is a little darker in color than maple, but not much.

Roasted maple will do you well.

I've also owned a bocote neck which is even more rosewood in feel but with lighter color and stripes.. but it's expeeeensssiivvee.
