What is your favorite single coil sized humbucker?

I had a JB Jr in my Chapman and switched it out for a Hot Rails. JB sounded way too dry. It was the sound of drinking a scratch your throat and make you cough white wine. Is look at the little 59 or a cool rails.

Lil 59 is more balanced… the JB jr has that mid range hump. Not as spikey as a rail, but the 59 is a little smoother for my tastes.

I haven't played many of the SC packaged 'buckers besides the hot rails and JB jr and wasn't really overly fond of either. Granted I was comparing them to a guitar I had at the time w/ a JB.

Maybe some of the Area series DiMarzio pickups.

I like mine too though they're not intended to sound like a full size 'bucker in a SC package, which seems to be the purpose of this thread.

Bill Lawrence in a Tele
I have to agree, esp if you want a humbucker that can get close to a single coil tone. My parts Tele with the L45 and L48T blades still sounds like a good Tele. They are totally noiseless and can also take loads of gain if that’s what you’re after. But they are very transparent, full freq, and hifi. The tone of the guitar they are in will dominate. They do not color the tone.
