Threshold - Legends Of The Shires
(no, it's not about hobbits & elves)

This might be my new choice for AotY, great stuff :)

"New" singer Glynn Morgan was the band's second lead singer waaay back in 1994-95, so he once again replaces the original singer Damien Wilson, who came back to Threshold in 2007.

I hear they are very big in Guildford  (I think that's where they are based out of).

Grateful goddamned DEAD

Alien Fucker - We made a Midget Porn Video With E.T.

in the time it took me to write it it changed to Space-Time Vortex Titty Twister (same band\album)

Gary Numan - Savage (Songs From A broken World)

It is the follow up from 2013's Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind).

The new Soen album.

Very Opeth-meets-Katatonia feel to it, excellent musicianship, the singer has a great voice, cool songs.

Check out this fairly mellow one. Really cool vocal harmonies on it.

The guitarist on the album is Marcus Jidell, who is also the guitarst for the band Avatarium :)

So fucking love the Toy Matinee album. I was listening to !! Track sof Whack the other day and it reminded of how I thought of Trevor Rabin Yes and Steely Dan the first time I listened all the way the Toy Matinee album. For that was a huge win-win and I assumed we'd hear so much more from them.

What I've been somewhat consumed with lately is the new Living Colour. Great originals and some nice covers. They do a job doing something new and different with covers...which should the standard. Love everything about the band, but miss Muzz. That said, Wimbish is stellar. Here's their Inner City Blues:

I quit listening to Living Colour past the first CD.

As for Toy Matinee, check out the genius of Kevin Gilbert. He is the key genius of Toy Matinee, Thud, Giraffe, etc.

Yeah, I know all about Kevin. What I didn't know until a few yars ago was his involvement with Sheryl Crow's debut...I'm not a big fan of hers, but once I heard a few of those tunes again you can definitely hear a boat load of Kevin's harmonic and melodic sensibilities. I've been listening to the Third Matinee album a bit recently as well.

But I've always loved Living Colour, got into them before they really broke when a video for Middle Man came on while my sister was watching BET while I was reading a guitar magazine in the living room. My head popped up and I bought the cassette a day or two later. A few weeks/months go by and Cult of Personality breaks. But Time's Up was a significant step forward, as was Stained. It's not that they were necessarily better albums, but they were the work of an obviously and continuously evolving musical collaboration.

The two previous albums, since the reunion, didn't get a lot of spin from me and I'm feeling a need to revisit them.

Irony is the early Crow material has Gilbert all in it as you say. Such a contrast with Third Matinee when Richard Page was involved in that project.

As for Colour, I first got introduced to them with Cult of Personality. However my favorite cut on that disc is: What's Your Favorite Colour??

There were letting the funk out!!!
