Sorry the job turned into a shit-show. I know you were making some good stuff there and enjoying it.
This. I worked in restaurant work as a kid, and young adult, and it seemed a rough life unless you were personally disciplined. Lots of work hard, party hard, machismo going on. Glad you are back anyways. Had been wondering about you.

It is good to see you. Jeff Tweedy has been on Seth Myers twice this week, and Jason Isbell was on Colbert; it got me thinking of you.

I'm sorry about the bullshit at the cooking job, but music is what you should be pursuing. It's not only your passion, you're talented and it's become your primary skill set. The latter is fine (go with what you know), but the former is the dream...earning a living doing what you love most, that's the goal.
 
If you can't take the heat or the pans flying at your head, then it's time to get out of the kitchen.

Good luck with the next gig and filling the space between.

Unfortunately that is far from uncommon in the restaurant biz. Shit wages, shit hours, shit treatment unless you own the place or have the good fortune to work for a good boss. Glad you came out of that without planting your fist in his face. What the Ramsey's of this world do on TV does not work in real life, and that is not how he runs his own places.

Congrats on the new teaching gig and mojo towards finding a great part time gig to raise your kitchen skills.

Well, for those of you that follow me on instagram can expect to see a lot more home-based food porn. Especially some breads and desserts. I'm going to take the skills I learned and dive deep into my cookbook collection and start trying some ambitious dishes at home.

The words that immediately stood out from me in this post were "Instagram home-based porn". I really don't want to see that. But food porn? That could be kinky.

Have three interviews already lined up for this week; one as a saucier at a fusion cuisine joint, another at our local hotel doing prep and special events, and the third as a "private chef" for a local frat house. Local hotel is my #1 pick, as it's the most flexible with my teaching schedule.
