Friday, we were denied port entry to Cozumel thanks to the fear epidemic. Yes, I was on that ship. Nothing like having a manager of the lab that worked with US ebola patient 1 that never touched any samples and was asymptomatic for 19 days being on board when the CDC decided to restrict all travel for several of the concentric circle layers of hospital workers. People eating themselves to death on board was a far greater health risk! I don't blame the lab worker since she followed all CDC guidelines before sailing. She and her travel partner self quarantined under the ship's doctor's care for the rest of the voyage. Carnival did a great job and took great care to keep the passengers informed and entertained the rest of the cruise.
Saturday at sea, so we took it easy and relaxed. Instead of gorging ourselves, we ate very healthy each day and actually lost a few pounds thanks to all the walking, swimming, snorkeling and exercise. We had a wonderful, relaxing yet adventurous time.
We met all kinds of fun and interesting people from all over the world, including the crew. I spent time with a few aging WWII vet's that were full of spunk. We will do something like this again. The only complaint would be the lack of a better ventilation system in the casino section. I can't stand the stench of smoking. That shit burns the throat and eyes.
Roatán, Honduras
Caye Caulker, Belize
The very layed back little town. Almost no tourist type of stuff going on. The people were super cool and the fresh off the boat seafood among the best we've ever tasted. This key island is about 1 hour away by speed boat from Belize City. It is built up on a mangrove tree root base.
Sunrise going toward Cozumel
USCG picking up blood samples from the very un-sick lab worker passenger.
Our USCG escort Sunday morning in Galveston. That's an M240 machine gun on the Defender's bow.
