Did a whole lotta toddlerin' Saturday.

Went to brunch this morning and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather today. Went to Jazz Standard/Blue Smoke for a toddler friendly jazz show. The boy dug it but didn't want to sit still. The band was a high school jazz band. Those kids can play. Standouts were the sax players and the drummers. Took a nap. Woke up for couch tour with Lettuce. Now listening to Marco Benevento, and he's everything he's cracked up to be.

We're off tomorrow. Taking the boy to the Brooklyn Children's Museum, and have some errands to run.

Still battling the cold from hell. Started working on all the business paperwork for tax season. Roasted some Guatemalan coffee my in-laws smuggled back for me from their Panama canal trip. Got tomorrow off, so woohoo.

Friday - The drive home was better than I thought. My Friday drives usually take me about 1.5 hours but I got home just a little over an hour. Now Friday the weather was really bad. The rain was not the big issue but the winds were. When I got home, a large branch off of our curbside tree was covering the sidewalk and the yard. Some branches were rolling down the road and wind was so strong the rain seemed to have come from all directions. We just stayed in for the night I began catching up on episodes of Marvel Agents of Shield while playing some guitar,

Saturday - No rain or heavy winds in the morning. So I walked the dog in the morning and found that right up my street one of the houses curbside tree uprooted and fell. Fortunately no damage to the homeowner home or cars were seen. As Malia walked around a few blocks, it began to drizzle so our walk took another detour. With the shortened walk we came from the bottom of my street from a different path. As we made the turn, another really large tree had one of its branches fall and covered the whole street. The tree branch was the size of tree that uprooted on the start of our walk and it was shattered across the road. Luckily also no damage that I saw but the road was closed at that end by the city. I figure that the city will come after the holiday to take care of it. When I got home, I brought the 2 branches that fell from our curbside and cut the branches up and tossed them in the garbage can. In the early afternoon I went to a blues jam. Was quite disappointed as I was grouped with a novice rhythm section - it was torture. At night I played at my standard 3rd Saturday of the month gig.

Sunday - Low key day for me. My Sunday morning was normal...Walked the Dog and then Taichi with the Mrs. We went out for breakfast after Taichi and then came home and did a few chores. Never saw the movie "Edge of Tomorrow" so I watched it and enjoyed it. That was followed by a long nap. In the evening, brought out my 12-String and was messing with it for a bit.

I am off tomorrow for President's Day so my weekend is extended.

Fri. Got up on 3 hours sleep and went out to enjoy the 60+ degree weather. Yes I said 60+ in the middle of February! I love climate change. Went out to the garage where I'm stockpiling Land Rover parts and found the box that had some brush guards in it. Got them used off eBay and the powdercoat was coming off and they're rusting so I started sanding and painting them. Wife came home and I bitched at her because she wasted 2 hours changing and I wanted to get out and do something while it was still sunny and warm. By the time she got ready it was 5:30, getting dark and cooler by the minute. Got something to eat and came home. Took a nap and went to work. I was short handed but business was so slow it didn't matter.

Sat. Got up on 4 hours sleep. Went out to enjoy the weather. Worked on the brush guards. Thought about washing the truck but there's so many puddles it would stay clean for about 20 minutes so it didn't seem worth the cost. Wife came home and I took her to church in Madison. Came home, got some sleep and came to work. Really busy. Really shorthanded. Notice a theme here? Drove bus for about 5 hours. Better than sitting in my office bored, I guess. About 4 in the morning things got interesting. The place filled up with Sheriff's deputies. It seems that some nationally wanted fugitive was spotted here. They hung around for about 2 hours searching everywhere. Checked the parking lots. As far as I know they didn't find him but they put in a good effort. Went home.

Sun. Slept. Five whole hours in a row! Shortly after I woke up my wife showed up at home. She said things were slow so she left early. Since gas is only $2.79 a gallon we went cruising to enjoy the still in the 60's weather. Drove about 125 miles round trip. Stopped at a casino. Left down a dollar. A whole dollar. Now I'm going to have to work overtime to make that dollar back! Crashed out for a couple of hours and came to work. Expected to drive all night since the only driver I had scheduled tonight has been sick 6 of the last 7 nights. He surprised me though and showed up. Now I have to figure out what to due to amuse myself all night. I could learn how to use the new tracking software for the new buses that showed up, but they won't be wrapped and have radios in them for three or four weeks yet so I can't use it anyway so why bother learning it yet. I need some of you guys to step up and start posting some interesting threads at 4 or 5 in the morning so I have something to do. Remember, I'm counting on you.

It became a totally domestic weekend when most of plans went bust for various reasons...I did manage to rebuild my pedalboard yet again...

I should have stuck to my original plan and hit the road for a couple days...

Friday: Car turbo went on the way to work. Then found out that my breakdown insurance had lapsed when I though it had auto-renewed so had to pay through the nose to rejoin.

Saturday: AM - lots of frustrating time spent chasing down various options for reducing the cost of our TV, Phone and Broadband package. Due to the channels the wife wants to keep hold of, there isn't a massive amount I can do as although we don;t watch that many channels, all the ones that aren't on Freeview all tend to be in the more expensive packages from Virgin or Sky. :gah:

PM - Wife realised she had bought the wrong size boots on Thursday when on a shopping trip with her friend (don't ask, blonde moment even though neither the wife or friend are blonde). Phoned the store and they had ONE pair left in the right size. We then had to do a 50 mile round trip to go and exchange them that afternoon or they'd be gone. Got home early evening and found son getting really upset and struggling with his science homework (another long story involving a complete lack of consistency from the school and a revolving door of science teachers, 8 in 2.5 years and that's not including supply teachers). Spent the next three hours explaining various parts of his science course to him...

Sunday: Wife worked so spent the day helping son get through another massive science homework. Watched some TV in the evening.

Monday: Now sat at work waiting to here from my mechanic whether or not my car is a write off.

Friday: the usual quiet night at home.
Saturday: got our taxes done. Re-registered my car at AAA then got a call from my Dad telling me my Grandfather was put in hospice. He's 98 and up till 3 years ago was still playing golf. Went to the hospice care and spent a couple of hours there with my Father and Grandfather. My Grandfather was pretty incoherent and heavily sedated but comfortable. It's just a matter of time now.
Sunday: did the usual errands and had rehearsal with the kids band.

Did a tube swap in my amp (stereo amp, not guitar amp). Played some golf, played some guitar. Tried a cool new restaurant that had the best margarita I've ever quaffed.

dropped my old iPhone 5s face down on the wooden floor yesterday, which killed the display. Coincidentally my contract is up in 2 weeks, so I saw it as a sign to get a new phone. iPhone 7 on the way

Friday - went for a haircut, scalp massage, straight razor shave, manicure and got hair ripped out of my face. Then caught up with my wife and daughter at the mall. Had to have dinner out which doesn't work well for my diet, but managed to stick to meat for the most part. I'm down 15.6 pounds as of this morning. It will two weeks tomorrow that I started the diet.

Saturday - went over to my daughter's and replaced all of the wear parts in here dryer. It was squealing like a stuck pig. Now it's running so quiet, she has to keep checking it, because she thinks it is turning itself off. It's not.

Sunday - went to the record show. Bought nothing. I did see some things that I already have and was surprised at what people are asking for them. Went for a walk.

Weekend continues today as it is Family Day here. I am headed out in a bit to play a part in a commercial for a moving company. My first acting gig. I should be done by lunch time. It will be a web promo video. So, I'll be able to share it when it's done.

Friday - Worked in Columbus, OH, then drove home.
Saturday - errands. Got outside a bit. Then a nap. Watched Blackhawks lose.
Sunday - Daughter drove down in the morning from Chicago. Met with the rest of the family for my mom's birthday. Watched Blackhawks win. Packed for business trip which commences...

Monday. Flyimg to Baltimore, then off to camp out in the Sparks/Cockeysville/Hunt Valley area for two weeks of training for my job. Really looking forward to it, as my job will really take off once I know the instruments I'm getting trained on.

Friday: My wife had a speaking engagement in Blacksburg, Va. so I drove her up there. While she did her thing the dog and I put our walk on over the Va. Tech campus. Beautiful sunny day. Played guitar.

Saturday: Repaired a blade on one of my long knives and sharpened several others. Another awesome day and the wife and I took a drive to the river and gave our pup a walk on the sand for the first time. Played guitar.

Sunday: Watched The Clash race and the 500 qualifying, play guitar, and worked on motorcycle bringing it back to life from winter hibernation.

I had a rather quiet weekend.
Friday - I had my morning class, then a few appointments at the office. Got home a bit early, put my Donovan concert CD into the player, only to find that it won't work as it is the wrong format.

Saturday - I had a couple of appointments, then a photo shoot with this photographer:

After that, Carol and I ran a few errands, then took it easy.

Sunday - Church in the morning, grocery shopping, then I really took it easy, reading most of the day.

The school is closed today, but tomorrow is on a Monday schedule. That meant I needed to book possible Tuesday clients for today. So far, the first client is a no-show.

Friday -- after work, ran a line in a soccer game in Portola Valley on a grass field in heavy rain. It was a high school playoff game, so it couldn't be postponed. Got home muddy, wet, and chilled to the bone.

Saturday -- Tax Day (boo!) Only took about two hours; this year was pretty simple, comparatively. Then watched a Sharks game on TV

Sunday -- Dealt with some unpleasant family business (not immediate family -- elderly uncle) and then took our son out for Ethiopian food at Gojo (our favorite) and then had a scoop of Raj Bhog ice cream. Sharks game at 5:30, then Walking Dead.

Friday, I prepared to mourn for Sweden.

Saturday, rode 64 fast miles in the country and later fought off cramps due to the relatively warm weather.

Sunday, rode 42 even faster miles in damp drizzle and had a blast.

Staying indoors today since it is raining all day. It is an appropriate day to mourn Sweden.

Friday recorded my tribute to George the animal Steele. I'll put it in the Feb songwriting thread.
Saturday had a great gig at a local music-focused restaurant. The night ended with a drunken audience member leading the whole crowd through "you are my sunshine" as an encore, and it was actually a truly beautiful moment.
Sunday i boiled down about 15 gallons of maple sap down to maybe 2 gallons of concentrate. I gave in at midnight, and will do the rest of the boiling on the stove, getting it down to about a quart and a half of syrup. With the crazy high temperatures this weekend, the sap run has been pretty out of control.

Friday Rain walked the dog and went to the gym
Saturday a little bit of Rain walked the dog
Sunday Not much rain but threatening all day to rain and very windy so walked the dog and didn't ride. Went to a great little Jazz concert on Sunday night, saw some friends and had some good scotch
Monday Lots of Rain walked the dog quickly and went to the gym. Off to see some other friends for pizza and beer tonight
