Well, the Postman had Tom Petty in a cameo as sort of himself. But Wasserworld had Jean Tripplewhatsit in cavewoman clothes...

Costner can be a pretty good actor, maybe even great at times. He's not amazing though and can be rather shitty. These two films are far from his best acting...closer to his worst. Waterworld just failed at being Mad Max on the water for me. And the Postman was just too slow (but I remember liking it overall).

Bull Durham was arguably his best leading role. While Company Men was probably his best supporting role...no! wait, Silverado. I fucking love Silverado. If the hate runs strong and you don't like Costner, then your favorite movie with him was the Big Chill...he played the corpse and even his face was cut from the film.

Totally qualified...can you name two better (or other) Costner post-apocalypse flicks?

While they may also the two worst, if they are the only ones, they can indeed embody that paradox.

which was exactly the inspiration for my chuckle.

I saw both and the only scenes i can remember are Jean showing her bum in WW and Tom Petty in PM.

Jeanne Tripplehorn showed her Tom Petty in The Postman? Hubba hubba.

When I was in 8th grade, I read an excerpt of The Postman in a Sci Fi mag and thought it was pretty good. Fast forward 20-some years and Kevin Costner made a film version. I remembered the book excerpt and found a download of the novel, and was finally able to read the whole thing.

It was awful, never bothered to see the movie.

I liked the Postman far more than I could stomach Waterworld. Tripplehorne or not.

Silverado is the best movie Costner has been in. Not because of his part in the movie (which he did a great job in, and was his first big role I can remember), but because it was, well...Silverado. 'Nuff said.

I liked "That Golf Movie" (Tin Cup) and watch it when it comes on TV. It is the best gold movie and one of the best sports movies made. Hell, it is the basis for some of our Pop-Culture now:

"He Tin-Cupped it..."

I have heard that phrase often, and even used it once when I made a seemingly impossible approach to a protected hole. (golf hole you dirty mo-fo's).

I also often hear guys quoting from it.

My golf dream is not to win the Masters, ( I suck) but to start the Roy MacEvoy 3 Iron Tournament, in which the participants can only use...Well, you know the rest. My brother and I, with our two sons, intend to do this soon at a local golf course. Should be fun for all.

So yeah....
