This will be happening soon. My wife refused to wrap the pickguard that I bought myself for Christmas. So I may as well get to work. Spent the week last week getting it playing fantastic, time to get it sounding great with a great sounding P Pickup that I have laying around.

I'll keep you posted but any work will be most likely after New Year's.

How did you get that for $40?
Thomann Musiker flohmarkt. It was damaged, with a wonky fretboard that rose up around the tenth fret to the 13th, it still drops down after the 14th fret slightly and crappy work on the nut slot. I took her in and fixed the slot and leveled the board. I never really bonded with it though, because of the pickups mostly. Also the string angle over the nut wasn't enough on the A string. I've remedied that with a bar type string retainer, which I think all F type basses should have.
