Yeah, I don't think it's there from a harmonic and melodic perspective, but the vocal nuances and the guitar tones are similar. I could totally imagine R.E.M. doing some of these songs. I wouldn't pigeon-hole the Athens crew to only a few harmonic and melodic devices. Anyway, it's original tunes with a similar sound, without stealing their tunes or using what hallmarks there are of R.E.M. as a basic foundation. They are not to R.E.M. as Zeppelin is to everyone they stole from.:barney:
