Tort pickguards updating thread to complain

I think tort looks really good on white, eggshell blue and black guitars.

Agreed. I don't really care for tort all that much on most colors, but I love the tort guards on my Jazz Bass and US Masters.

I love putting new pickups in guitars. I hate opening up a guitar and trying to figure out WTF is wrong with it. Son brought this home last weekend, my job canceled today so I dove in. If I put a cable in the guitar, ohm meter at other end of cable, zero ohms. Long, long, long story short, "short ha ha", apparently when I soldered all the grounds to the back of the volume pot, I melted the insulation inside the cable that goes to the output jack. What I don't get is this thread is 4 and 1/2 years old, haven't had a reason to open it up since, and it worked perfect till now.
