EMGs wouldn't fix the problem. Series wiring would, but I don't have time for that.

Late CBS era. Ditched the dual tones for a pickguard-mounted output jack to simplify wiring and replaced the synchronized tremolo with one that used a stiff sheet of spring steel to keep it down so that they didn't have to route a cavity for the springs in the back. Add to that the general terrible quality of CBS instruments and you've got yourself the least-loved Stratocaster in history.
