No Tele. Only because it isn't a 6 a side headstock.

Irrelevant since a fender telecaster would qualify as both a telecaster and tele style guitar since tele style encompasses all mfgs

"Tele style" is everyone but Fender. They can't make a Telecaster unless they like trademark infringement.

I've had a bunch over the years. Here are the 3 that I still have.

This is currently my #1. American Professional Series Telecaster. We're still in the honeymoon phase.

My second oldest tele is a Squier Classic Vibe 50's with a Warmoth neck and Custom Shop Nocaster pickups. I got it when I needed a second tele tuned up to F for the Johnny Cash tribute. I like it, but it's probably my next guitar to go up for sale.

MIM Fender Palo Escrito Tele. It was my main gigging guitar for years. It's a beast.

Why everyone but fender? Is there some legal definition of tele style I'm unaware of?

Well, Telecaster is a registered trademark of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. They're the only company allowed to make a Telecaster. Everyone else makes "tele style" instruments. It's kinda like how The Kinks can't be a power pop band. You don't get to ride anyone's coattails when you're the originator. :embarrassed:

Nothing in this legal definition of telecaster explains why a fender telecaster wouldn't be a telecaster style guitar. I still disagree with your interpretation
