The hills are alive with the sound of music!

As a child I had an aversion to musicals, kinda still do.
People bursting into song in the middle of dialog always struck me as ludicrous and struck a major cringe response in me for as early as I can remember.
And theater was just not a big part of my childhood. My parents always steered me away from any pursuit they considered too "artsy" and impractical.
As an old guy, I can kinda put that instinctive response aside and give a musical production the benefit of the doubt for a least a bit before I decide if I'm going to enjoy it or not.
I watched The Sound of Music as an adult in my 40s and its actually pretty darn enjoyable.

I have been able to see that performed on stage twice - once at my son's college (he was the stage manager) and once by the touring Broadway company. Great stuff.

It was great. I think I'm more of a Mary Poppins man though. A tough call indeed.

I haven’t seen that movie in at least thirty years. My sister loved it and we only had one TV so I had to watch that fucking movie over and over. That and Dirty Dancing. Dirty Dancing is a lot more fun.

While I'm a rocker, that Dirty Dancing sountrack kicks ass. I like every song on it.
