Was that a Gibson Lab Series L5? It's gone, or I can't find it on their site. That was a steal for $129. I've wanted one of those since forever.

I see a GC in Rhode Island has a ton of footswitches for Fender, Marshall, etc., for 5 bucks. Go to GC used, put 02886 in for the zipcode, and search footswitch.

It looks like Musician's Friend is clearing out the non-Infinium versions of the Bugera stuff at stupid prices.

If you told me two years ago I'd ever like something made by Behringer I would've asked you what drugs you were on. I gambled on a 1960 Infinium and have been more than pleased.

The big difference here is that the bias is still manually adjusted rather than automatically sensed.

I wish I had any money at all. I'd pick up a 6262 for the brutalz.

Those are some insane prices. If I was in the market for something even remotely close to one of those, I'd buy one.

What's weird is that they're all currently out of stock and they're blowing 'em out with that pricing.

FYI, the 1960 non-Infinium is basically the same circuit as a later 1959. If I recall correctly it's got 820ohm resistors on both cathodes of V1, rather than the 820/2.7K setup. I might dig into my Infinium one day and put a 2.7K with a 330 bypass cap on V1b.

Yeah, a 150 watt 1959 clone for 229 is a real bargain. The others look to be great prices as well. I don't really need another giant, powerful head these days.

150W is a marketing number. It's 4xEL34, like a regular Marshall, so that 150W is peak rather than RMS.

I run my 1960 Infinium with a Jettenuator between the head and the cab to knock the volume down while getting output distortion.

I thought that seemed kind of odd, looking at the description and all, as my 100 watt Carvin X100B has the same tube compliment. I guess peak/RMS kind of fits the low end market, where a million kids in their mom's garage will be bragging about 150 watts to their friends. Like I used to. :)

Yeah, an attenuator seems like a must have item for a 100 watt head like this.

LOL Yeah, pretty much. On the high end, when the B+ voltage peaked out in the '70s, 1959s could hit around 180W peak when cranked and being destroyed with a hot pickup. Many a Greenback died before higher wattage speakers came out.

This thread is giving me bad amp GAS.

I'm still wondering why they're blowing out amps that they don't even have in stock yet.

They were offerred the last stock of old models at a stupid deal and are waiting on the shipment?

GC has the Peavey Classic 30 Special Edition on sale for $399.94 (plus applicable tax). This is the white tolex version w/ the Celestion G12V30 as opposed to tweed/Blue Marvel.

In looking at these at MF to check for PM possibilities, though, they are on backorder until April, which could also mean there are no more coming in. I also believe that the ones on sale will be coming from the individual GC stores, so...

That Peavey deal is absurd. I don’t need a Classic 30 but not buying just to flip it is taking everything I’ve got.
