That Khabib dude who is fighting the Conner dude.....heard about this on Friday at work listening to sports radio whilst test driving a car. This Khabib dude fighting a bear when he was like 8 years old...that's how they train in Russia i guess

He's going to try to rush Connor with a take down attempt and run right into a knee or a right hand. He'll be out before he hits the mat. 26 seconds, round 1. Over.

Agreed. Connor is the reminder that all the grappling skills in the world don’t mean shit when you take a massive punch to the head.

McGregor vs Khabib Live - Round 4 -
Boosted by his success in the previous stanza, McGregor was a lot looser with his punches and tagged Nurmagomedov twice being taken down.

A chorus of boos rang out around the arena as Nurmagomedov looked to move into the mount position, which he was dangerously close to getting.

McGregor the guard pass attempts well for all of a minute before Khabib performed a slick transist

McGregor vs Khabib Live - Round 3 - 5:56am
McGregor has started this round with a far bigger respect for Nurmagomedov's striking, taking a more methodical approach to throwing his strikes.

He soon found a home for his left hand, and began fending off Nurmagomedov's takedowns.

Fuelled by his thousands of countrymen in attendance at the T-Mobile, McGregor pressed forward like a man possessed and continued to land his 'Celtic Cross.'

Nurmagomedov began to feel 'The Notorious'' power too much for his liking and yet again attempted to bring the fight to the ground. Though he was unable to do so.

McGregor vs Khabib Live - Round 2 - 5:51am
McGregor started the second not respecting Nurmagomedov's striking and was made to pay when his foe landed a big right hand which sent hm to the canvas.

Nurmagomedov sensed blood and moved in for the kill, taking down McGregor and landing brutal punches from full guard.

Nurmagomedov then managed to get to his feet and unleash a vicious barrage of strikes before attempting a kimura.

McGregor could've quit and allowed Nurmagomedov to pound him out, but instead he continued to manoeuvre away from the punches and eventually made it back to his feet, albeit a beaten to a pulp.

McGregor vs Khabib Live - Round 1 over - 5:44am
McGregor immediately stalked 'The Eagle', throwing a big left hand and left high kick before fending off Nurmagomedov's first takedown attempt.

The champion wasn't deterred and continued to press forward, eventually putting McGregor on his backside against the cage, though he struggled to inflict any damage on the challenger.

McGregor did a good job of tieing up Nurmagomedov and ensuring he didn't pass his guard, but he definitely lost this round.

Wow.

That certainly didn't go the way I thought it would. I had hoped that Connor's training and strategy coming into this fight would be focused on the undeniable fact that he could not grapple with Khabib, and rather than fight his opponent's fight, rely on his strengths. I would have thought the training would be shoring up his take down defense and doing everything possible to keep the fight upright.

This is a Connor MacGreggor trademark flaw. He wants to prove he can beat a diversity of fighters at their own game. I guess it's an ego thing. All of his defeats came from abandoning his incredible striking skill and power and instead giving his opponent exactly what they need to beat him.

He needs a whole new corner behind him that won't keep sending him down murderer's row with his hands tied behind his back.
