Summer Concerts on tap. What you got?

Just saw Clutch and Mastodon at a club this weekend! Both bands were fricking amazing. Payed 50 bucks to see both of them together which to me was one hell of a deal. I had seen Clutch before and already knew how great they were live. Mastodon blew my mind with how tight they were and dead on to the recordings considering they play some pretty complex stuff.

so I picked up tickets for Social Distortion and my wife got me tickets for the Smithereens for an early father's day gift. I am going to go pickup a ticket for the Baseball Project sometime this week.

Both concerts sound great! Wish I could go. I have never seen Social D, and saw The Smithereens many years ago. I like both bands. Don't know about the Baseball Project.

I have never listened to the Baseball Project, but it is a band with Mike Mills (REM Bassist) and Scott McCaughey (The Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5, Tweedy, and REM's 5th member for the last decade of the band). They are playing in a little coffee house in my hometown which is about 15 minutes from where I live now. I never got to see REM live, so this is probably the closest I will get to it.

Young Fresh Fellows!! Really? You never hear about those guys any more since Sup Pop took over Seattle and essentially displaced Popllama. I will have to check them out, in addition to the other good musicians in the band. And yes, I did miss that he was Wilco's "5th member" or that he was playing with Tweedy. Cool!

Scott was REM's 5th member. As Jeff said at the Tweedy show, Scott was the only person not named Tweedy to play on the Tweedy record. Scott's other band The Minus 5 has a revolving cast of musicians. They did a record called Down with Wilco where it was basically Wilco was Scott's backing band.

I'm heading to Joliet, IL tomorrow to see Kamelot w/special guest Dragonforce.

If I leave early enough, maybe I'll hit up Chicago Music Exchange on the north side.

ZZTop just announced a show in Niagara Falls, Canada.

Tickets aren't on sale yet, but I'll be watching carefully.
Great, small-ish venue. 1500 seat theatre at the casino. I've never had a bad seat in terms of audio. Sight lines can be a challenge near the back on the floor but still not bad.

Just picked up tickets to see World Party in Santa Fe next month. I saw World Party in Nashville a few years ago and that was a great show. I don't know what the lineup for Santa Fe will be like, but the Nashville show was just Karl Wallinger and an accompanist. But as recently as 2012 he was touring with a full band so who knows?

Okay, Graham Nash is coming to Great Barrington, MA in August, a couple of weeks after my birthday. With no summer class (and therefore no summer paycheck) and the office not paying due to some insurance company issues I don't know where the money will come from, but I'd like to see this.
