Still getting calls about Z Cars

OGG

Master of the Meh
Just got off the phone with a guy who blew up his 1994 300ZX TT out in the desert and wanted to know what he should do about it...

Call a tow truck.

Nice guy, I offered my best advice, but I'm really tired of getting all of these phone calls at random asking me about Z Cars.

Yes, I used to be a big Z Car guy, I have owned several of them, but I no longer have any, nor do I participate in Z Car culture like I used to.

Some wise guys down the street from Mark's shop in OC have me listed on their website (with my home phone number) as a Z Car Specialist and club owner. Despite having called them several times and telling them that I don't have any affiliation with the whole Z Car thing anymore, they have yet to remove me from the website. So, every few days or weeks, I get a random call asking if I want to buy a Z car, or asking how much they should ask for their Z car, or if the Z Car they want to buy is a good deal, or what it means when their Z car makes a funny sound...

It's become annoying.

The only reason they had my info to give (which I didn't authorize), was because back in 2006, my local Z Car buddies and I wanted to all park together at the annual Z Car Nationals Car Show in Orange County. The only way we could do that, was to be part of a "Club", so we made one up and I posted a stupid free website to legitimize it.

I have two daughters and a mother in law who think I'm goddamned AAA. Every time something happens they call me.... "I'm in Florida and I have a flat tire, what do I do?" :annoyed:

Complete strangers? Fuck.....

We must have a lawyer here on the forum who can write s a simple "cease and desist" letter for you.

I think the better approach is to call the guys who run the website and tell them that you will give them $xx in cash (it could be something nominal like $50) if they take down your name and number and keep it off the site forever more. As soon as your name is gone, drive over and give them the cash. That will be far more effective than a letter from a lawyer. I know it sucks to pay for it, but sounds like OGG has asked nicely to no avail. Perhaps a little "sweetener" will get their attention to finally attend to the matter.

BTW, OGG, I have a question. I drove my Z car into Lake Michigan over the weekend. Do you have any tips for removing the smell of lake water from the car?

iv'e only owned two Z cars......a 1996 Z-28 and a 1971 240Z.....both were fun.....but i'd very much like to have another 240.....someday.

I used to know some guys over at 4chan that could've taken care of that site for you...

:annoyed:
