I've not been authorized to do this, but since nobody else has stepped forward - BEHOLD!

(disclaimer -- I have an unhealthy obsession with travel guitars, having had TWO Go-Guitars and currently owning an Emerald X-7)

I always figured that if I were desperate for a travel guitar, I'd buy a beater Strat and just take the neck off. Never really "got" these.

I have looked at those in the past, but don't have a need for such a thing. I have never needed to fly with a guitar and had a Luna Safari 3/4 size travel guitar at one time for day trips or hiking. Cool idea, though.

I know a guy that has this guitar (or something very similar...not sure what brand he has).
When I first saw this guitar my immediate thought was that it must be flimsy and cheap. But when I saw it in person and played it, it's anything but flimsy and cheap.
I'm not saying that this is a good guitar to take on tour but it's a great guitar to take on vacation....
All that said, I have absolutely no desire for something like this but for somebody that does, it's a great guitar.

@bsman...thanks for stepping up for the GPOTD. I look forward to it everyday. So, thank you!!!

I played a Journey carbon fiber travel guitar that did the same thing...the neck collapsed to stow away. It sounded ok, but the playability was meh at best. I'm sure if you try a bunch of them you can probably find one that's pretty decent.

My various travel guitars have flown hundreds of thousands of miles with me. I hate travel, and having a guitar with me makes me hate it slightly less. Last summer, my Emerald accompanied me to NYC, London, Devon, and Reykjavik.

Always wanted to check one out for curiosities sake but if I was looking for a travel guitar, Id be looking for something smaller/minimalist

Always thought that it was a neat system. First learned about these instruments from a buddy of mine who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro up to the 2nd summit armed with a Voyage Air guitars.

The one thing I'd want is a pickup. If I am traveling with a guitar I might want to hit an open mic and would need that.
