some exceptionally good new country music

At first listen I still preferred the first album a lot more, but after a few months of marinating, I'm in love with Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
 
same producer has Metamodern Sounds.

Stapleton loved that record as well, and wanted the same guy to do his own record.
 
Saw this guy/band Friday night in Gruene. A touch too mainstream for me in a few songs, but they were great live.
 
picked up the Chris Stapleton CD.

meh...it's alright. Good competent professional songwriting, but nothing that really grabbed me.

I like the Simpson record a whole lot more.

That's too bad. I've been digging it a lot the past few weeks. Maybe it will grow on you. The songwriting is good, but the singing and production are what really make it for me.

It's in rotation in the car, so I haven't given up on it.

I just remember, when I got the Simpson record, being really excited as soon as I heard it.
